Vestibular Profile - Pediatric
The VP-P is a screening tool for school based therapists and teachers used to recognize children’s vestibular dysfunction, particularly delayed vestibular maturation, and monitor progress throughout vestibular interventions. As the child’s vestibular system matures through interventions, evidence of initial improvements will be observed in balance, motor planning, and spatial navigation (Lotfi et al, 2016; Hall et al., 2016). As vestibular processing matures and neural pathways become proficient messengers, functional improvements will also emerge in the areas of speech production, motor sequencing, and, over time, academic performance. It is essential to establish baseline measures from which to observe and appreciate the initially subtle changes in response to ongoing vestibular interventions.
